finally able to update this. I have been so busy I haven't had the energy to update on my work situation. http://www.customerssuck.com/board/s...ht=wicked_lexi <- Original Thread.. was getting kinda long!
I worked 2 weeks on my own. Not having lunch and working an hours over time... FUN. Kept it together. Worked my butt off, Hoped and begged the universe to make this week better!
Last Friday: I made up a list of FAQs for my Temp (she was starting at 7.am I wasn't getting in til 8.30am) Printed out the FAQ for the phone system, Also left her the Procedure manual for answering the phone and emails. THEN left her a note asking her to do the emails and letting her know that the new person started the same day! Hoping I had covered all the bases!
I also move desks and computers so that the new person can have mine.
Then I go home and sleep for 14 hours straight! Dreading Monday as I knew the temp wasn't very bright and WAS very annoying. Also I had never trained anyone before so I was scared to death of screwing it up!
Monday:Get into work at 8:15, Get BOMBARDED with questions from the temp before I even sit down! Sit down, take calls get yelled at by SC's... Do the mail and Realise today is going to be UBER quiet is terms of things to do and teach the temp.. great!
9:30 comes around, Go downstairs, collect New Person. Set her up at her desk, show her the main part of her job (data entry) She gets through that REALLY FAST! AWESOME! Now I have no idea what to show her... Crap. Temp is still asking questions. Manage to show the New Girl how to do some other stuff... Lunch time comes around! YAY food. After lunch new girl has her HR stuff to do. I talk to my "boss" and ask if I can send the girl home early as there is nothing for her to do! She says yes! Brilliant! I send the girl home early... HR calls and rips me a new one for letting her go home early! Even though I had permission. My computer is having a hissy fit and wont do anything I want it to do! YAY... 6:00pm rolls around and I go home, Try not to cry, Curl up in bed with a MASSIVE migrain, take way to many pain killers and go to sleep
Tuesday: Get to work at 9am, find out HR is not wanting to give me Time in Liu even though I had no choice! Joy... Temp asks more moronic Questions... New Girls comes in and *le Gasp* does exactly the right thing... remembers what i told her yesterday... listens *dies of shock* This girl is good. Another Quiet day! I want to get rid of my temp and keep the New Girl. I get her answering phones (She takes initiative and doesn't just ask me things! She tries to figure it out first!) B (my "boss") teaches me part of my new role! So excited!
And today is wednesday! Things are alot better! My new girl is nice, funny and bright.. my temp is stupid as a tree stump but I think i can just ignore her!
So I survived being hit by the train and the light at the end of the tunnel may now just be sunlight! Brilliant (Will keep you all posted) And I warned you this was long!
