Ok so at my Concert Security job I have noticed large amounts of rumors going around whenever anything happens. Usually it is just minor stuff like who is dating who usual bull crap.
Well that was until recently about 2 weeks ago I got hurt while out there. So first let me explain how I got hurt. I was standing at the front doors when one of my guys walked a very drunk patron to the front doors stating that he needed a medic. Seeing that this patron was walking on his own I told him to follow me and begin to walk toward the security/ medical office. About 3/4 of the way there the patron loses is footing/ balance and starts to fall. So he reached out and grabbed my elbow to catch him self. This patron weighed over 200 lbs and I am just over 100 lbs. The weight tore something in my elbow. It started to hurt right off the bat I took some pain meds and went back to work. 30 minutes later my elbow was so swollen that I couldn't even pull up my sleeve I sat down in the office and broke down in tears from the pain. *side note this was this third concert in a row and I worked my morning job going in at 5 am every morning before the shows* The EMT saw me and asked me what was wrong I told him about my arm, he felt it through the sleeve and said he was going to strap my arm to a board, I wanted to know if mt arm was bruised or not as well as swollen so I told him to cut me sleeve at look at the elbow. It was swollen enough at this point that my fingers where going numb. He cut the sleeve saw there was no bruising and then strapped my arm to a board and told me they where going to take me by ambulance. After arguing I could have someone drive me to the hospital. I told the director I was leaving and briefly told him that a guy grabbed my arm and it now hurts like hell and is swollen.
Ok so since no one really got a ton of details on what happened I can understand how some rumors could start flying real easily. but I have had people for the past week calling me all hours of the night saying things like:
"I heard someone fucked up"
" I heard you tried to stop some guy from coming back in and he grabbed your arm and threw you against the wall then twisted your arm back behind your back."
"So was it that drunk chick that got thrown out and arrested that beat you up?"
"How was the ambulance ride the other night?"
It has been driving me crazy, why is it people have to assume things and then tell everyone else that is what happened when they weren't even there. Man it drives me crazy.
Ok I am done with my rant for now
