Every so often my work has "vendors" in the cafe. Anything from shoes, house hold items, jewelry, personal care items, make up, shaving stuff etc. Most of the time I can pass them up.

Today they had jewelry. I'm not a big fashion person but I saw *shiny* and had to take a look.

They had some great pieces and I bought a bracelet for my mom for Mothers day and a necklace for my self.

But at $112 (USD) later, I really wish they wouldn't do these! I'm going to go broke!

At the same time, I shouldn't rant. I hate hate hate shopping and with gas prices, it did save me a lot of headache.

I used to get those people all the time in New Mexico. They aren't vender's, they're solicitors and they aren't allowed on the property.

Once I told a guy (thinking it would get rid of him because it works on others) that I have no money. He said to just take the money out of my till and write an IOU letter!

I told him that was theft and if he showed his ugly face again I would call the cops.

I know the ones you are talking about. We used to get those too... but these ones are COMPANY SPONSORED!

I had some random girl come into my store the other day and asked me if I wore perfume. I said no, to which she replied by waving a lamenated list of perfumes in my face yelling that it would be a great day to start!

I made up a story about being horribly allergic. The strangest I ever had though was the girl trying to sell Disney kid umbrellas and flashlights. And that's all she had.

I'm not even sure I'd trust company sponsered solicitors unless they were grade school kids trying to sell me candy cars or wallpaper (anyone remember that crap?)

Yep, and to be shamefully honest, I had that job. It sucked. It was commission ONLY and we only got paid between $0.25- $5 per each item we sold. So if we didn't sell anything, we didn't make any money that day at all. I was working 12 hour days (60/wk) and only getting about $100 a week. Didn't do that job long.

My company won't let those people in the door. They're always a big distraction, and most of the time they have crap.

Besides, if we'd have wanted to deal with that stuff, we'd have been the high bidder on that lot. (yeah, our buyers know their buyers and have seen them while on the job, as it were)
