  • my first graveyard shift

It was actually uneventful... I'm disappointed

I did survive... working from 4pm at one job until 7am at the next... thank God when I'm done with training there will be only one day a week that I have to do both.

oh and working at a hotel is soooooooo much easier than central reservations... too bad the full time night audit probably won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

oh and on a completely unrelated note... FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PEOPLE NEED TO STOP CALLING HOTELS IN NEW YORK AND GETTING SURPRISED AT THE RATES... NEW YORK CITY IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE CITY IN THE UNITED STATES... DEAL WITH IT!

Ahh....brings back memories. My first job at the ripe age of 19 I was working graveyard shift 11pm to 8am in a 24/7 call center. The first couple of hours were okay, but for a good stretch until about 5am it was uneventful. The best part of working nights and graveyard shifts is that it's a more relaxed environment.

Welcome, my dear Smiley, to the Special Kind of Hell that is Hotel Work.

I don't remember if I told you but I'll reiterate: Bring a Book. It's worth it. Actually, I've always been told that the Graveyard Shift is one of the easiest, slowest shifts you'll ever get. Until you get the Giant Group that comes in at the same time from the same airport around 2am.

oh the airport location is fun... not too many late night arrivals... but damn a lot of people check out at an ungodly early time... and go to sleep at ungodly late hours...
