I've been without internet during the past two weeks or so...meaning there are some long overdue tales from the LP desk.
-We had to fire two separate employees for gift card fraud (one for $1500 for a kid who was about to leave the country for two months and the other for $20, yes twenty measly bucks). Not only does my company fire people for gift card fraud/theft, we also prosecute it. Imagine being led out in handcuffs for $20. I had to call the cops for both cases.
-I had a customer try and "teach" me customer service values after I repeatedly told him that it was not worth my time to listen to him (I'm LP, not customer service, I don't have to take your shit). This went on for ten minutes. Why? Because I told him not to exit out of the ENTER door, and he thought that I was, in some way, calling him a thief. WTF? He left after I threatened to call the cops for loitering since he wasn't buying anything.
-Guy comes in and claims he bought something yesterday, and accidentally left it behind at the register. This is a common scam. Especially since, the item was the ONLY thing on the receipt. Meaning: he paid for one thing, and forgot to take it with him. Yeaaaaahhhhhh Riiiiiggghhht. He flashes the product in my face and attempts to walk out. I grab the product out of his hand on the way out and demand a receipt from today, not yesterday. "Man give me my stuff back before I call cops," says he. "Don't worry, I'll call them for you," says I. He stares me down, until I pick up the phone receiver, at which point he says, "*expletive* you guys!" and storms out.
-Our store's LP department consists of only four of us splitting 100 hours a week. Well, two of us have been doing this a while. The other two are newbs. One newb just stops coming in. We call him, he says he quits, we say if you stop showing up you're FIRED. He bitches and moans and we never see him again. So now the rest of us gotta cover his 30 hours until we find a replacement. A few days later, the other newb tells us his availability changed and can now only close and only work 3.5 hours a night. That's not even a full shift. Now me and the other LP guy gotta cover his 15 hours a week that he can no longer work. I love working 9 hour days, don't you?
-Some good news: I got mystery shopped twice. 100% on both! The guy who trained me, who we all know as Mr. LP, never got two straight perfect shops. My supervisor even got me a $15 gift card to Starbucks, she was so impressed.
-Some bad news: after covering an employee who quits, an employee who cant work a full shift, covering another department, great mystery shop scores, and doing it all without complaint or question, this happens: on my way to work, my car runs out of gas during the busiest time of day traffic-wise. I call work and tell them that I will be late, until roadside assistance can fill me up and I can fight through traffic. I get treated like total shit. They tell me to get there NOW, and acted in total speculation of the whole event. Bear in mind, it is way too hot, I got a headache, and I'm treated like a criminal after all the good I've done. I tell them to piss off, and to find someone else to cover my shift, because I'm not coming in. My next shift, nobody even said a word about it. They knew they were wrong. Bastards.
-I came in on my day off today to put in my notice. I gave them four weeks, instead of two. They didn't seem surprised nor did they do anything to try and keep me there. Whatever. My days at LP were numbered to begin with.
