We've been using an old "loaner" machine for the past two years and it's finally aged to the point where they want to get rid of it.
So tomorrow, I should come in and have to set up all my preferences again, but that's Ok. I'll be setting up on a 2.33ghz, Dual Core with 2gig of ram.
So, hopefully* no more flickering desktop. No more randomly switching to the wrong screen when I alt-tab, or click on a task-bar item. No more drumming my fingers on the desk while I wait for the screen I just switched to to finish painting....

For the record, I currently have 21 windows open, all of which are necessary to do my job except for Firefox. This computer just doesn't handle it very well. The machine is also shard by three or four other people, along with anyone who happens to need to use it during the day when we (the night shift) are not here. I've managed to keep this particular box clean of spyware and other crud, but it hasn't been easy since some of our old employees liked to download toolbars . . .

*I say hopefully because there's no telling if one or more of these symptoms are caused by our ticketing tool....
