  • ok, this hotel is seriously haunted (pictures, dial up beware)

and it is starting to get to me...
ok, so maybe first to understand these stories I should explain the layout of the hotel... when you come into the entrance you come straight into the lobby, the front desk is to the left, the breakfast area is to the right and the main stairway is dead ahead... the 2nd floor has 3 windows and the door onto the stairway across the distance of the lobby (they are grouped at each end). The best way to describe how the rooms are laid out is to say that going from east to west the halls are 2 H's on top of each other with a sideways T between them... here are the pictures (once I get them transferred to my computer so I can upload them)
lobby (eta, yes that is customerssuck.com on my laptop)

breakfast area, kitchen is in the room behind the tv

building map, inside row is downstairs rooms, outside row is upstairs rooms

    so onto the stories
Every single night now, at least once I will see someone walk past either the 2 windows or the window/door... and then never reach the other pair... there are 2 rooms that they could be going to... but this happens even on nights when those rooms are empty.
When I'm out delivering check out folios it isn't unusual for me to see shadows going up one of the vertical parts of one of the 2 H's going towards a dead end... I don't hear any doors opening (the halls echo, so I would be able to hear it)... when I get to that particular hallway there is no one in it.
Quite frequently I will see headlights drive up to the hotel only to look out the lobby doors to see no one there... I also often times hear the front door opening and have no one come in.
My coworker shuttle driver tells me that all the time when he goes into the kitchen (he bakes cookies for the guests) and swears that stuff gets moved around all the time... even when he's the only one who has gone in the kitchen... he's also heard stuff fall that are placed in areas where there is no reason for them to fall.
And last night a new one... I could have sworn I heard running water in the kitchen (the lobby echos so it isn't unusual to hear stuff from the kitchen at the desk)... I grab my kitchen key, walk over, open up the kitchen, and lo and behold... no water running.
Another weird one... I take the cordless phone with me when I deliver folios... now the cordless doesn't actually ring, I just have to listen for the echos from the desk phone (something I can do in about 2/3 of the hotel)... I've lost count of the times I've heard the phone ringing, dialed the extension to answer the desk phone into the cordless... and there been no answer...
so yes... the hotel is haunted

    Yep. Been there.

(At a Ramada and then a Days Inn in Hendersonville, NC -- there, I said it. Finally -- the identities of the Blah and Dreadful Inns where I was formerly employed)

Do you know what was on the property before the building was built? Has anyone died at the hotel?
Drive it like it's a county car.

don't know either of those... but the hotel has been there a long time... I know it was a Holiday Inn Express before the company I work for bought it out (which may explain a lot)

At least the ghosts won't ask to speak to your manger or ask you for free stuff.

see, being the nasty and suspicious person I am, I'd suspect you have a sneaky bum, not a ghost. Assuming said sneak has simply figured out how to walk quietly, then they know where *you* are at all times, because you don't, and you've said how much things echo.

Supposing they've jimmied the lock on one or both of the rooms, so long as they don't disturb things too much, they could live at your hotel for free.

Either way, stick up some webcams. Ghosts are terribly camera-shy, and will go away, but if it's a bum, you might catch them

I mean, there was that guy in Japan who found the old woman living in his closet that had been sneaking around there for months. Though why he doesn't look in his closets more often than every few months, I don't know.

My dad swore up and down that his library was haunted. Its founder and best known patron was a woman called Mrs. Kilgore, and if he was working nights, he would sometimes hear the sound of a woman pacing between the shelves; he said it sounded like someone walking around in heels. Freaked him out fairly badly, but he said that Mrs. Kilgore was reputed to be a very nice woman and he figured that as long as he didn't go poking around after the sound, she'd leave him alone.

            Creepy, though.

              Did she look like this?

Probably just as well that he left her alone. Might have turned out like this.

Ah, tally-ho, yippety-dip, and zing zang spillip! Looking forward to bullying off for the final chukka?

                .
yes, but at least one of the rooms had been sealed (the room had to be fumigated) and I would have been able to tell if the seal had been broken... and the locks are all electronic... not very easy to jimmy (and i've before checked the key encoder to make sure keys hadn't been issued for the other room it could be and seen none issued, or only issued to the people who checked in and no master keys are missing...)

Which hotel is this? You could prolly bring it up with the UGHS, see if they can tell you anything about the history, or see if they want to do a Ghost Walk.

Funny thing about that is, I am also a member of the TAPS forum... what? I am weird okay. Only some odd stuff has happened at the hotel here. I won't elaborate, so as to overtake smiely's post lol

Nothing says you can't start your own thread though. And I would love to hear more hotel ghost stories!

Pssh. I'm a member of WSPIR. I actually got to investigate the Northern State Mental hospital shortly before TAPS came and did the same thing.

                          And yes...I'm weird too
