    They Stole the Air Conditioning Unit

    We got a lovely surprise this morning when we came to work. 1 of our 4 air conditioning units was stolen. I don't think it was for the copper though. They took the brand new one and left the 3 old ones alone.

    We're talking... one of the washing-machine-sized (or larger) boxes with a fan in it, mounted on a concrete pad? Or a window unit?

    Either way, weird. If the former, daaamn, well-equipped thieves.

      They might be hoping to "return" for cash since it was new. Or the installers might be trying to "resell" the unit for more profit.

        We're talking about twice the size of a washing machine. And I wish it had been bolted to the concrete. No, it was set up on top of a plastic "platform" on the ground in front of the concrete. Which makes me all the more suspicious of the guys who installed it. We'll be going with a different company when we can purchase another one.

        But then again, my office isn't in a great neighborhood. The building next door had a riding mower stolen that they had chained to the building!

          We haven't had any stolen (yet) but at one of our hub sites, we have to fence in the A/C units because the local gang bangers keep beating the crap out of them with ballbats.
          Just sliding down the razor blade of life.

            Maybe they just couldn't afford a new air conditioner so they used less legal means to get one.

              That may be the case, but I'd still like to find who did it and kick 'em in the balls.

                We had someone attempt to steal one of the roof-top units (that needs a crane to move, never mind lift) at one of our stores under construction. They failed but managed to lit the store on fire a few weeks after that. It caused some damage, thankfully the sprinklers were just finished a few days before.
