We answer chat questions here at the library. Since we are part of a consortium, we answer questions from other libraries. It's kind of annoying when their is a library specific question, like "What is the fee for a lost card?" when the website of the library doens't have that info.
my thoughts will be in parenthasis.
Anyway, some questions that are kind of hard, or you just wish the person who asked the question just would find something better to do:
-Are the events in the book called the good earth plausible?
-I have an antique portable heat lamp. It has 15 watts, and the issue number is L-xxxx. Underwritters Laboratory is the name on the sticker. I would like to do a report on this antique so if you could ...
-I need a skit on the watsons go to birmingham
-Hi I need ASAP a skit on the book the Watsons go to Birmingham...pleasse help me!!! (obviously when the person didn't get an answer right away she opened a new window and repeated his/her question)
- Hello. I am a journalist and I am trying to confirm what prize was awarded to Pyotr Smirnov (Smirnoff vodka fame) at the 1876 Centennial Fair and Exposition in Philadelphia. I have not been able to fi...(that is an interresting question...but looks like a lot of research)
-is there an olympian that has won medals in unrelated events; such as swimming and gymnastics? (another question that will take a lot of research, or google. Hey, why didn't the questioner google it? oh, right, more work for him/her)
-the watsons go to birmingham book online free (ok, I wish people would write complete sentences that make sense)
-need to know how can a 14 year old get on tv or get jobs
-According to the Galup Polls, Which are the top ten professional concidered as your most Honest & Trust worthy of the top ten professions? Thank you, (why can't people do their own work?)
-i would like to encourage and show people on how to build a city in the simcity PC game series. How could i offer people free instruction on that game in Mukwonago? (well, I hope the person is planning to leave the house sometime soon)
-Do the Posse Comitatus and Levee en Masse lists of names for Great Baddow, Essex exist and can I view them? (not sucky, just wish I knew what the person meant...I get what he is asking for, though)
Also annoying is people don't provide their email addresses. So say the customer gets disconnected, how will he/she get an answer?
