Alright so i have 28 hours of my summer job left to complete. That's 4 shifts. I'm very excited to be done. (almost) I thought I'd update you all on what's been happening the past few days at the Museum.
Scaring people isn't funny
Prank Boy doesn't prank me anymore. There's no time for it, and I think he realizes it's not funny. See, his friend visited and kind of jumped out at me in the tool shed. I lost my balance and nearly fell on the saw. PB got pissed and told his friends that scaring people wasn't funny, then he looked pensive. Since that moment he's stopped.
Also, I've taken on more work at the Museum. My Boss and PB (now Painting Boy) are in the process of painting all the decks and stairs and stuff around the museum. It's pretty consuming so I'm doing all the tours, on top of running the gift shop. We don't really have the time to interact.
Thanks for the appreciation
My boss hasn't really changed his tune much. I think he might be a bit worse. Though it might be my fault a smidge.
So the guys are painting and I'm doing the gift shop and tours. So I don't paint. I wear nice clothes to works, with no spares. For the most part, we're all busy all the time. Today, not so much.
There were a lot of people in the morning, but after lunch there was no one. So my boss and PB started to paint things. I was running around handing them paper towels, or putting up wet paint signs, cleaning, etc.
Anyway, PB's sister arrived and offered to help out. My boss mentioned he wanted ice cream from the store, and since I couldn't help with the painting, I offered to run over.
When I got back, I commented on how lovely that one deck was looking. My boss looked up at me and scowled,
"Of course you can sat that. All you have to do is buy ice cream"
Hummingbird over Hina's head
Thursday, I was hanging out in the gift shop. My Boss, PB, and a volunteer were downstairs having lunch. It was almost the end of the day, and there was no one around. So I cracked open a novel and started to read. A few moment later, I heard this sound like a huge bug hitting the ceiling. I looked up to find a hummingbird.
Now we keep the side door, and the front door to the gift shop propped open so customers don't actually have to open them. I didn't see the hummingbird enter, but I'm positive that's how it got in.
I watched it for a moment, hoping it would fly out. When it didn't I ran downstairs with the news.
My boss suggested holding a broom to it, letting it land, then carrying it out. Which is a great plan if you follow it.
He took the broom and swung it aggrsively at the bird. Anytime the little thing fluttered away, he chased after it. The poor thing looked quite frightened. After a moment, I suggested we just all leave the room, and hope the bird exited.
My boss tried to broom swat again, then agreed. I waited outside for fifteen minutes. I came back to see the hummingbird still hovering around the ceiling and sitting on the ceiling fan.
Eventually, PB was able to get the hummingbird out. But I don't know how.
I hate you side door
So as I just said we leave the side door to the gift shop propped open at all times. There are two reasons I hate this.
1) Bugs. Mosquitos and flies enter through the side door and then eat me alive. Short of running in a circle there is no way to keep them away from me. They gravitate to the counter, even when I'm away. However, I find it only the front door is open less come in.
2) WIND AND COLD. I'm sick now. Wednesday it was really cold and windy. I left the sidedoors unlocked, but closed. I didn't want the wind knocking over all the stuff, and I didn't want to get sick. A few minutes after opening, my boss and PB come. They open up the doors. My boss makes a huge speech about why the door must remain flung open all the time. The wind knocked everything over, and I'm sick now.
I'm busy. Leave
So Creepy Man returned a few times since he asked for my picture. Yesterday he came twice but I was able to avoid him. First time I went to lunch, the second time it was closing time. He actually yelled at me when I said I was closing. He then looked at his watch and went away.
The first time after the incident wasn't so great.
CM= Hi Hina.
Me= *Writing up some inventory stuff* Look, I'm sorry CM, but I'm really busy right now. I can't talk.
CM= Oh busy, busy. Always busy, hina.
Me= Uh..yeah. I need to do this inventory so...
CM= Are you going to take a souvenir?
Me= Huh?
CM= From the museum?
Me= Oh, um... yeah. A pin I guess. I collect them.
CM= What else do you collect?
Me= Uh...nothing really. I need to do this inventory so...
CM= Do you collect...*starts listing things*
Me= Nope. Now i'm really busy. Could you maybe go talk to Boss or PB?
CM= Do you like horror movies? I love them. Nothing like a good fright to start your heart racing. Always nice to have someone protect you from the scary things.
Me (in my head) Yeah, I wish I had that now. (Outloud) You know what, CM, it's time for my break so I'm going to leave now.
CM= Alright, if you need someone to watch scary movies with, you know how to find me.
*shudder* Seriously, I just want to tell him that he creeps the hell out of me. But someone told me if i do that he might strike.
Well that's the main things from my last week that i found important. There were also some things with kids, but I'm going to write that up later.
28 hours until it's all over.
