  • Phone Calls

So around 09:30 or so I start getting these calls. All the same number (which looks slightly familiar but not enough to jog anything). All of them with just the sound of a radio in the background and possibly someone talking to someone else in the distance. After about 7-8 calls, I call the number back. It answers, and still the background noises with no one talking are exactly the same.

It wouldn't bug me much except that they keep calling. For a bit there, they were calling every two minutes. Now, my phone has a queue. It started getting odd when I'd get a call from this number, the queue light would be lit up, and the next call on it would be the same person again. That's right, they were calling me while on the phone with me.

Finally I call one of the tech guys. He says that he called the number and gets a voicemail for a guy named T. Wait a second....I know a guy with that name. Fuck. It's him isn't it. He went to high school with me, was in the same group of friends, and has eliminated most of his brain cells with various drugs to the point of not being able to hold a conversation very well. That explains why the number looked familar. I know he is taking classes out here so he must have had the number in his phone.

Well I called it to make sure. Sure enough, not only is it him on the voice mail, but then while I'm on the phone with him (I called on my cell phone) suddenly the noises gett quite, but the call is still going, and his number is coming up as calling my switchboard phone. I called the tech guy back. He's had someone who's phone was glitching like that. The guy would be on the phone and then suddenly, his phone would put the call on hold, and proceed to call someone else without him doing anything.

We can't block the number, so I get to deal with the phone calls till either he realizes his phone is doing odd things or I leave. Goody.

Too bad nobody will be able to explain to him that his phone is screwed up.
Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.

Sent him a text a bit after that. Finally, near the end of the day, he calls in. He didn't realize it was me but explained that he got a new headset and it had been in his pocket or something like that. When he asked how many times he called I got to tell him "somewhere around 20 or so" which surprised him. I was just glad for the calls to end.
