Oh, yeah, I think I've decided that I will have to do a personal inspection of the hot tub after it's reopened to make sure it is up to specs...
last night I had to take the hot tub off line and put up out of order signs up the wazoo. Why you may be asking... well I'm glad you did. One of the safety covers over an intake valve was missing... yes, that thing that keeps people from getting stuck due to the suction was missing. I found out about this because a guest came out visibly shaken because her foot had gotten stuck on it from the force of suction, fortunately other than a red mark on her foot no injuries... but I've seen people submerge themselves while the jets are going... had it been her shoulder that had gotten stuck, or her hair had gotten sucked in it could be a lot worse than visibly shaken and uncomfortable walking.
Oh, and if you thought that was bad, when I opened the access area to shut off the power to the hot tub, I found the missing (and apparently broken) safety cover in there... now that is not an area I'd even expect a guest to know about (it's in a different room than the hot tub) so it is much more likely that an employee put it there... which raises the question, how on earth can you justify removing such an important safety device and not moving the hot tub to out of order? Honestly, is whoever put the cover in that access area that stupid or are the sociopaths... I'm not sure which would bother me more.
