Redundant!

The job that I love has been made redundant, the job that was tailor made for me has been deemed not important enough to keep so they are cutting it from the payroll.... I found this out yesterday...
They have given me a couple of choices.. I can become an Accounts Clerk, I can become a Training Admin Clerk or I can take the payout.

I had no warning my job was in danger. Earlier this week my manager had told me off for volunteering for more work from other departments cause he would have to lias with the other departments... but he knew that my job was going!

I am so angry and upset! I am at work putting all my graphic work on the server so that it doesn't get lost when I move jobs/leave. My own boss hasnt said one word to me about it yet. Not even a "we're sorry to lose you" I will be moving away from all my friends, being stuck doing things I hate if I choose to stay or leaving and being unemployed if I choose to take the payout in this Financial climate..

grrr writing this post is nearly making me cry again!

I am so sorry. I know how happy you were when you got that job.
But hey if you move now....it may not be too bad, there should still be jobs out there.

If it was me, I'd switch to whichever of the two sucky options offers more money (or if they're the same, which is less sucky... take things like distance from the car park to your desk into account if you can't decide) and look for another cool job.

I would suggest that you take one of the alternatives - my job was eliminated in December of last year and I am still unemployed. It doesn't help that I am desperately trying not to go back to call center work. I really wish that an option of another position with my company would have been offered.

I know you don't want to hear it... but at least you have some say in the matter. You might not like the choices... but making them is so much easier than being forced.

Lexi, I'm so sorry. I just saw your post.

Definitely take the least hateful job and start looking for something else. Better to be employed and looking than trying to live on unemployment and looking.
