  • On Holiday Bonuses

The company I work for (you know, the harmacy America trusts) sent us our holiday bonuses this week.

I know you're thinking, "There's no problem there, TheComputerError, and this hardly seems like enough topic for a whole new thread."

Well, here's the rub. Our "bonus" is a sheet of six cards granting our friends and family (to be honest, only six of them) our employee discount. Not for the whole season, mind you, but only for the date range of 21 to 23 November 2008.

That's right. My holiday bonus this year is something I can't even benefit from.

I'd have rather gotten a pittance check than this.

And, to add insult to injury, this was the first year I was eligible for a holiday bonus.

Holy crap. My holiday bonus last year was at least $50. This year, since the hotel is still going to be closed, I doubt I'll get one but that's okay.

    Your company sucks.

      that blows!!!

At the rate my work is going, I think my continued employement is going to be a bonus this year. Though I am not too sad about being asked to go to 4 days a week (both hubby and I), so that might be counted as a bonus.

I get jack shit for a holiday bonus. Those might bankrupt the company, you know.

All I get is a card from the managers with a scratch-off ticket inside, and a note reminding me to "remember where it came from" if I win anything.

Those coupons seem eerily similar to the "friends and family" events my store has every so often, where we get a sheet of coupons good for 10% or so off your purchase, with half of the store being ineligible for this 10% discount, and we're supposed to hand them out to our friends and relatives.

I refuse to do so, because I like my friends and relatives.

where I work we usually get an extra 10% off of any one item in the store for 20% total, but this year they just expanded our discounts to include food, we get quarterly bonuses though, unless your store's numbers are in the shitter, how the hell do you do over 108% of your sales goal, while only hitting 77% of profit? we missed our checks by $35000 in profits(nothing, consider that our profit goal for the year is $3.5 million) for the whole damn quarter

Nomorecarts, I'd say that may have something to do with shrink or other something else that negatively impacts profits. Haven't heard what (or if) we're getting our most recent quarterly bonus. I'm pretty sure we work for the same place, so I hope you're right about the grocery thing. I only heard a vague rumor and I don't know the details (is this a one-time shot, for example) but that's still pretty cool. Better than the one-time 10% off dealy that never worked well for me.

When I worked at a grocery store for a few years, we always got a $25 gift card for the holidays. That's about it, though.

WTF kind of bonus is that?

I just moved to an area that has that chain, and I love shopping in their stores.

                  This, however, makes me reconsider.

One year, I got an awesome bonus, and the tax they took out was effin ridiculous.

                  You can't win.
