So, the "sister" hotel to mine has a different system than we use. Heck, they're under a different corporate chain, but they're owned by the same guy.

So any way, I get a call the other night from "Sis" and apparently their system froze, preventing them from running the audit. They called me, hoping that Ic ould tell them what to do. I have absolutely no training whatsoever on this system. I inform the unfortunate auditor of this situation.

Sis: You've got to be kidding me!

Me: Nope,I don't know anything about your system.

Sis: Geez, I was hoping you could help me, do you think I should call property management, or call Susan (the GM)?

Me: Well, like I said, I don't know your system, but if it were me, I'd call property management, and if that didn't help, I'd call Susan.

Sis: Which property management do I call?

Me: I don't know, that's something you're gonna have to figure out, or call Susan about.

Sis: Well, I really don't want to call her at this time of night.

Me: I understand that (laugh), but you got to do what you got to do.

Seriously, I wished I could help her, but it's quite obvious I wasn't familiar with how her system functions, and she needed to contact someone who did.

Damn. Don't you hate it when you're not given proper training or reference material. Anytime I had trouble during night audit (our computers were quite old and the system froze from time to time), I called our franchise's tech support. That's what we pay them for, after all.
