  • "Flying Daggers" XD

I was re-reading the "Do You Work Here?" webcomic, and this strip in particular struck a chord with me:

    http://www.dywhcomic.com/?p=137

When I worked in the Pet Section, my bete noir wasn't cockatiels as such, but instead it was the wrongly named Lovebirds. -.- They should have been named Hatebirds; there's nothing loving at all about having your hands hacked to pieces by some stupid bird that's also screeching as tho it's being murdered. I also had SCs say they wanted to look at the bird so I had to hold the damn thing in my begloved hands while it bit chunks out of my fingers and drank my blood; only for the SC to say they didn't want it cuz it was vicious. No sh*t.

Anyone else had a "life reflects art" moment at work?

I once had a customer at my day job call me to ask me if he had to drink water as opposed to sugary things with his medicine (which said to take with water). After I told him why, he said "But the label on the front says it's refreshing."

Me: "Yes, I know that's what it SAYS, but..."

He then thanked me and hung up.

I'm sorry you got vampirized by some lovebirds. I had a set and they were the sweetest things ever but I got them from a breeder who were hand-raised or whatever that phrase is.

          Probably. XD

At the pet centre, the birds all came in from different breeders; the lovebirds used to come from this guy who was rung up whenever we needed a new pair of vampires, uh I mean lovebirds. They certainly were not handraised, they were deadly! O.o

One of the few times the game store owner deigned to let me know what was actually going on, it was that the office had an inch of water on the floor. I rescued the important stuff that was on the floor (server, boxes of receipts) and managed to clean it all up, but got yelled at about some ancient W40K items that weren't selling anyway and the water had soaked through the shrinkwrap (um...you should be lucky the damage was only $100 total, why couldn't you have taken care of this when you got here way before me?).

              Hot damn!

Well, let me tell you all how awesome we feel after reading this post.
I'm really glad that there are people out there that can sympathize with all the horrible things that happened to me. There's not much worse than when, after going through some terrible event (or a long, long series of terrible events), people don't think it's all that bad. They say crap like, "Oh, I'm sure it wasn't that bad," or "you're just a whiner; deal with it."

I've long said that the "other side of the counter" looks easy, but it really, really isn't. It's way different than you could imagine, you lousy jerkbags who never had to stand there.
I know none of those people are reading this post, but whatever.

On a side note, this is my personal favorite:

Excuse me, good sir paladin, can you direct me to your EVIL district?

Heh, nearly all the petstore stories in your webcomic strike a chord with me. XD

I even used to own a bunny who was the male version of Ix, I kid you not. Black and white Dutch, too. XD
