  • Someone at my office loves me...

...because when I walked in this morning, after a week's vacation, THIS gorgeous thing was sitting on my chair, with a jaunty red bow on it:

(in case you can't see it well, it's a mini-trebuchet!!)

It's....it's...beautiful....And can be used in the ongoing battle for the defense of our office!

I don't even know who gave it to me, but it's amazing. Even with just a small handful of coins in the bucket, it'll fling a rubber ball across the room.

Edit: Apparently, it's a gift from the other girls in my department. I LOVE working with geeks!

Oh, most definately. From what my officemates tell me, the web designer is insanely jealous. Espectially since his trebuchet is the desk size, which is about 1/6 the size of mine.

With a trebuchet and a Dalek, I shall rule the office!

I've now purchased some decorative glass stones for the counterweight (until I get enough pennies to weight it properly), and amassed an army of settlers, dragons, knights, and pirates to pit against my mighty battle engine. Well, as soon as my housemate and her fiance vacate the downstairs of the house, that is.

        Video forthcoming.

Cool! I got a USB missle launcher from a gaming buddy. I want a trebuchet too, though. Maybe start a history of desktop warfare museum. I think I still have my old catapult around too...

Yeah, my coworker in the IT department is considering launching an office war one of these days. He has a Nerf Maverick (six-shooter), and a RoboRaptor, and is thinking of buying a USB missile launcher. I have a trebuchet and an r/c Dalek, and am considering buying a UFO from ThinkGeek.com

Today, me and my officemates were openly pondering whether or not my trebuchet, when fully weighted, could throw a projectile directly into the CEO's office from our office door. We're pretty sure it could.

...and I thought it was just me that had cool stuff on our desks. Before my company moved, I had a rather large rubber-band (Gumband, to you Pittsburghers LOL) ball on my desk. Sadly, the "Death Star" as I called it, is at home now.

All that's left is to put it on wheels with some sort of remote trigger, and the dalek can pull it into position for maximum effect.

I may be able to rework the Dalek's Christmas sled for the purpose. I was thinking of that earlier. And no r/c needed--just a long strong on the trigger pin.
