With all due respect to "Mythbusters", tell that to the kid that was killed a couple of years ago because of someone doing this exact same thing.

If you'll notice the last part of my post (and one of the things they strongly emphasized as part of the don't ever do this) that while firing perfectly straight up where you are talking about a bullet going up, expending all it's energy then falling under the pull of gravity, it is non lethal... however, be off by even a slight angle and the bullets will start falling back to earth before they have expended all their initial energy and will likely still be fatal. I never said that it was a good idea... just that the myth that falling bullets were inherently dangerous was just that, a myth.
