Today, I found out that 4 of the grocery stores under the same chain as the one I'm at will be closing soon. The good news is that the one I'm at isn't one of the stores closing.
A grocery store right down the street from my house is closing on the 23rd. It was a really expensive place, but that store has been open for as long as I can remember.
I need to go there at least one more time. So many memories are attached to it.

At my day job, we lost one of our stores a while back. Around the district, we lost a couple more. My store is actually doing pretty well business-wise, though.
Oh PurpleCat, it gets worse. Wait until all those employees go to your store expecting to get hired.

That might be a problem unless some of the employees from those other stores get transferred to the store I'm at. We're currently on a hiring freeze.
I also stopped at my first retail job on my way to the train station. I saw that the toy store was closed down and the items in that store got moved to the main store.
The supermarket chain I work at has only closed two locations in the area recently. One last year, and one in the next few weeks. They were both old locations inherited by a partial takeover of a smaller chain years ago, and were never really big moneymakers for the company, despite one of them being near a major mall.
My supermarket chain also seems to be the only one consistently expanding and renovating old stores in my area, especially since one of our company's major competitors was recently bought by another company that has a tradition of failure (they really should probably drop the P from their initials. Oh, and they're not exactly great, anymore.).
