  • Need some information

Has anyone had any experience with United Group Associates? I received an email from one of their HR people today about my resume and setting up an interview.

Googled them and they are legit as far as I can tell but just wondering if anyone has any first hand knowledge.

    Thanks

After digging through Google, they're like MEGA Life Insurance. Huge MLM in which you need to get licenses for.

Salary inquires on Google look good. I guess it won't hurt to go to the interview.
Here is part of the email.

United Group Associates is the largest brokerage firm of its kind and is a subsidiary of Health Markets, which is owned by Blackstone Equity. I have attached a few web links and articles for you to review. The two positions that we are looking for at this time are sales and sales management. If you are interested and still in the market for a career position we will be interviewing candidates this week and will be covering in detail; corporate structures, available positions, job descriptions, pay scales, leads, bonuses, stock programs and future advancement during initial interviews. All interviews are done face to face and we will need a copy of your most updated resume and at least three references. We do not do phone interviews and only serious candidates should arrange an interview.

Late to the thread, but in the current economy and job market, any company that has to go out to get employees instead of barring the doors to the thousands of qualified people around is going to raise red flags for me.

Same here but it isn't a issue any more. I finally quit filling out applications and just used some of the business contacts I have made over the last ten years and next week I will start a job making more than what I was at the former job.

I guess my question is unnecessary then, but for anybody in the future: Did you apply to them, or did they contact you out of the blue? If the latter, run far; run fast!

It was a headhunter contact. And yeah that usually means run for the hills. I did some research after posing the question and found nothing positive. Even the positive folks were negative. The only reason I asked the question was that a start up fee was not talked about in the email bu due to my research I discovered that there could be a very big start up cost.

I would be leery of the fact that they are owned by Blackstone. Around here, Blackstone buys companies, sells them and then shortly after they go belly up. They owned a company that was then sold to the company that I used to work for. Since that time, business has gone to hell and they will most likely be out of business before too much longer. That seems to be a pattern with companies that have been owned by Blackstone.
