And I don't mean garlic, onions, or something spicy that could produce fiery breath.
Yesterday, I picked up some gingerbread cookies that had colored granulated sugar sprinkled on them. I brought them in and was munching on them during my 15 minute break.
The CSL showed up and immediately observed that I'd better take a look in the mirror.
The sugar was dyed magenta. To my horror and embarassment, the sugar had smeared all over my mouth and stained my front teeth dark pink. It looked very much like I had lipstick smeared on my mouth.
Luckily I was able to wash most of the pink off my lips, but the staining on my teeth wouldn't come off (it eventually did come off from just saliva, but it took hours). So I got to walk around for most of the rest of my shift with painfully obvious pink teeth, and jokes from the staff about making out with gingerbread women.
I took it in stride though, because although it was somewhat embarrassing, it was still funny.
