  • Broken Scanner and Scale

Today, one the registers had a scale and scanner that wasn't working. I had to weigh the produce on the register next door. I also had to use the hand scanner to scan the items. Luckily, none of the customers in line threw a fit and they seemed pretty understanding.

Sure this wasn't just a dream or fantasy purplecat?

It wasn't a dream or fantasy. It actually happened.

My service desk coworker wouldn't let me work on the scale even though I might've been able to fix it since I've done it in the past. That was the only annoying part.

I dunno, I think it was a dream. You deal with a lot of sucky people.

        But a good dream, nonetheless!

Did you mark that day on the calendar? Because I think that probably got the ball rolling for the Apocalypse. If I see four skeletons on horses riding around I'm running like hell. To church. And REPENTING.
          Think. It's not illegal yet.

I wish the part where my service desk coworker wouldn't let me fix the scale hadn't happened. I wouldn't even want to dream about something like that. Most of the other service desk employees, including the FEM, wouldn't have had a problem with me working on getting the scale fixed. At least one or two of them would've encouraged me to do it.

I hate our faulty registers sometimes. On Christmas Eve, I was one of the idiots shopping at *big box retail* at 2pm. The store was mobbed and the lines were easily 7-8 people deep with carts loaded full of groceries. The scale waited until the customer right before me to suddenly crap out. Nooooo! I work there, you'd think I'd be better at choosing faster lines. The cashier goes to a nearby register to weigh and calculate about ten different produce items. Gaaaaahhhhh!

In the meantime, I point out to the customers behind me that the scale didn't work. If they had produce, they'd want to enter a different line. The CSMs didn't bother to close the register to reboot (which would fix the issue), because he store was busy. How is pissing off all the customers in your line helping anything? The insanity boggles me.
