Well, we'll see if this does any good. I've got a lot of messy personal stuff going on (no, I'm not going to talk about it here) and it's really making me edgy at work. When I'm on edge, the worst irritant to me is sound, particularly people talking or laughing loudly. It's like nails on a chalkboard.

The headphones I'd been using at work were cheap crap, and only one ear worked, so I could never drown out any sound. So, during my lunch break, I ran to Target and got a decent set of headphones that will cover my ears.

Hopefully it'll help keep me calm.

Good luck. I wish I could do that. I miss having my own office. It was a brief, but pleasant period of my worklife.

So it isn't the CEO crashing around the office this time?

I wish you the best of luck in getting through what it is you are going through.

Sometimes we need to isolate ourselves a bit in order to sort things out. It seems as if you made a "sound" investment in getting the headphones.

I have two pairs of "open" circumaural headphones. They're *very* comfortable, very high quality (the reason I got them originally), and can be used to drown out external sounds when necessary.

Why two pairs? One for the office, one for home.
