  • I'm employed!

I finally found another job after having quit Gamestop. I promised myself I'd never wait tables again after IHOP, but the place is a small, locally owned Greek restaurant with amazing food, and the manager that called me back after I turned in my application was super nice. So I'm kind of excited! I'll be making money again!
    Would you like a Stummies?

Congrats! Here's hoping the customers are as cool as your new boss.

Ooooh, Greek food. Does that mean you'll send some our way? I mean, we already have the vast suppliers of booze and cookies.

Why am I suddenly hungry for souvlaki (pork, flavored with lemon and cooked on skewers) and dolmades (hamburger and rice wrapped in grape leaves)??? Oh, and a side of feta cheese and olives.

and for dessert, toasted pita bread, coated in cinnamon sugar with a big bowl of honey for dipping. (favorite dessert at my favorite Greek place)

dang...it's 2am and my favorite Greek restaurant doesnt open until 11am. I think I know where I'm going to suggest to my parents where we eat lunch tomorrow. I'm starving now!

That's great. Working for an independent/small business is so much better than working for a corporation; (of course I'm generalizing.) Things are simpler, you get closer to your co-workers, and in time you start to really care about the job because you know the quality of your work is directly impacting the health and reputation of the business -- you feel valuable, because you are. The manager of the restaurant is also the owner (or one of the owners), which is the way it should be. Good luck!
