  • So, a call from Human Resources is never a good thing...

And so this chapter of my life comes to a close. I got laid off this morning. So did one of my co-workers. I was really afraid for K, my best friend at work and someone who looked like she might be on the block, but it would seem she made it through this round of layoffs. I'll keep my fingers crossed, it would NOT be good for it to happen to her.

Ah, well, it's not like I didnt' see this coming. I did. In fact, I expected this a year ago.

It's okay, really. I just wanted to tell you all. I'll head on down to the unemployment office tomorrow. It's going to be a fucking madhouse down there, and I ain't' looking forward to it.

I had no idea how much crap I had in my desk. I needed a dolly to get it all to my car.

If I'd known this was gonna happen this week, I'd have blown off yesterday afternoon, when I had a migraine coming on.

I'm sorry to hear that, RK. Even if you expect it, it still sucks.

      Good luck.

        I'm sorry, RK.

It looks like you're handling it with your usual grace and practicality. Still majorly sucks tho'

I was in that place a year ago. Although I knew it was coming (and looking forward to getting to leave that place with a good severance package) it was still a shock when it was announced. I was all "how dare you say you don't want me here any more." But that only lasted about 24 hours. After that I was counting down the days. We were actually given 2 months notice that it was going to happen. Enjoy a few weeks of time off, then look for a new job. It will do you alot of good. I know it did for me.

Thanks, all, and my condolences to all of you in this very crowded boat with me.

It really is okay, though. I have no immediate plans to seek anything other than freelance work right now. Other than that, gonna spend a lot of time with my little girl, something I've always wanted to do. Actually looking forward to it.
