  • Anyone worked at Costco?

Well, tomorrow I have an interview at 11:30. What is it like? Do they treat employees well?

A few of my friends work in the local one. I've heard good and bad reports.

I think its like most workplaces, it depends a lot on your team, your boss, the atmosphere of the store.

        Good luck with the interview!

It went well, they said they'd call by Sat. Still no call.

i do work at costco and it was a big change from working home depot.

I find that Costco cares about their employees more so than the depot does. They recognize your hard work. There is no slacking off.

They do not base your raises on evaulation like hd does. Your raises are based on how many hours you work. So I figured out that it is about every 6 months you get a raise. They start out at a quarter and go up to .75 cents or so. This depends on your dept, how many years you have been there and whether you are full time or partime. Though once you have been there 5 years your salary gets capped at certain amount for whatever dept you are working but then every six months you get a bonus check of say 3000 dollars.

They pay every two weeks, you get time and half on sundays. Costco closes on major holidays so you get to spend time with your family on 4th of July.

Their medical is very good and you can get a decent price on prescriptions especially if they have a pharamcy.

They are strict on time and attendance. If you do get a write up it stays in your file for 6 months and then it falls off.

They have a 401k and stock options plan.

If you have any questions i don't mind answering them. I do need to find my employee manual.

hope it all works out. Damn... Cosco seems better than my job I work at. Do they have an employee discount all items (i.e. food, electrical, home care etc?)

I am sorry that you didn’t get it. Try again in about 6 months or try for another location.

I know when I applied I had a choice of where I wanted to go. If I remember correctly you have to fill out a separate online app for each store.

To answer the question of the op, there are no discounts but you do get a free executive member ship for you and three other family members. You also get a rebate check each year for what you spend. That is 2% for every purchase.
