  • Drug Test

    So hypothetically...

You're at an interview, all goes well, you get the job.....BUT...

"You'll have to take a drug test."

You do one drug - marijuana. Should you...

    A) Not bother showing up for the drug test.

    B) Come clean. "I smoke pot, is that a problem?"

    C) Take the test, maybe you'll get lucky and pass, or maybe they're interested in heroine and stuff and don't care about weed.

    Hypothetically, I'd go with B.

Now, IRL I don't partake, so it wouldn't be an issue. I do believe a person needs to accept the fallout from their own decisions. If you decide to partake of the Mary Jane, you deal with the cosequences head on and honestly.

As someone who once hired a girl who right after being told "You've got the job" responded with "Do you drug test?"...

      Yeah.*

I'd hypothetically recommend going with B, but odds are if they're testing for drugs, any illegal use would be considered bad/unhireable, etc.

What kind of hypothetical job is this? If it has anything to do with operating vehicles, machinery, equipment you may as well not bother taking the test, because MJ will get you canned in a minute if they find out you use it.

I'd also hypothetically recommend not smoking it while you're looking for a job at least...

*For the record, we don't. I could give a damn what you do in your own time, but bring it to work, or show up "under the weather" or start calling out because of your habits then it's out the door with you.

I'd like to hypothetically promote this factor in a large way. Just sayin.

Depends on how long you have to take it, you can purchase clease products from most herb shops or head shops in your area. I wouldn't come clean about it to them honestly.

If you're job searching and still feel the need to blaze, get some yellow root or detox type of stuff to keep on hand.

Marijuana can take one to three months to clear your system. It's stored in your fat cells, so the more you do and the more fat you have, the more to clean out.

and be thankful that they don't make you pee with someone watching you to make sure it's your own pee.

yeah, in the military you gotta pee in a cup with someone (same gender) watching you the whole time.

KInda on what wagegoth is saying..the more you do on a regular basis, the longer it takes to leave your system.

So, a person who smokes like once a year...it can take as little as a week to leave.

My sister on the other hand, who Ive spoken about before (and smokes on a daily basis), would probably take 2 months or more for it to completely leave her system.

That being said, and I cant personally account for this, but I hear that drinking a metric ton of water can help flush it out of your* system. I dont really know how true that is. I do know people that swear by it though (and theyre still free walking around after these probabtion drug tests so maybe its true) LOL

*not talking ABOUT you, just saying your b/c I dont know what else to put there. lol.

I would go with B myself.

I likely couldn't pass a piss test now. I don't even drink or do drugs. Last time I took a test, they said I overdosed on PCP.

I don't even know what that shit looks like. (assuming Pill).

But it's from the sheer amount of sleeping meds I take.

Ugh! Hated doing this in the military. Which is why I prayed when they made the announcement that they never called my number(the rolled dice to determine # and it was for the last # in your SSN)

and to be honest, being a female sometimes makes things easier... our line is shorter.

I have more to post about that but i'll make a new thread

It's quite probable that it would flush out the necessary salts from your body first - the ones that help you to stay alive. Not recommended, and I don't know how accurate the claim is.

Hypthetically I would not recommend B if you want the job, so your only real option at this point is C and hope for the best...and you can always ask for a re-test. Regardless of what your thoughts and many others on the legalization of marijuana, it's still illegal and it will keep you from getting the job....unless you're interviewing for a smoke shop of something. Hypothetically what you should have done is just quit smoking when you were on the job hunt and made sure enough time had passed to clear your system based off your personal use and body type. You could have also looked into the cleansing products as well. Then, when hired, if you felt the need to start up again you could do so, hypothetically speaking of course. Hypothetically, I would never recommend smoking during work hours, a nights and weekends approach is much better, you'll enjoy it more, you'll save money and it won't sap all of your motivation away. I hope you get the job.

Water pills and drink plenty of water. The pills are diruetics so drinking plenty of water is a must.

A is not a viable option if you want the job.

B might work if the job has no legal requirements re drugs, everyone involved in the hiring process is of the opinion that marijuana is fine, and honesty is greatly valued.

C - well, it depends on the drug, the test, and how rapidly your particular system detoxes.

                              3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
