  • Staff member apologizes for his sucky behavior

The weather outside was bad today. It was rainy & windy. Although there were only a couple of spots to reserve, many people wanted to park. The sign that is used to block the entrance gate to Visitor Parking when it is reserved does not stand up when it is windy & rainy outside. It either moves, falls over, or the wind picks it up & it lands in the dirt where the flowers & trees are. So I did not have the sign out although the garage was reserved.

Male staff member exits the staff garage, which is adjacent to Visitor Parking, & approaches the outside gate that is across from the booth window. I open the window to motion for him to drive up the window.

Me: "I'm sorry, I know it is raining outside, but the garage is reserved."
Male staff member: *has an attitude*: "I teach her, & I have class. The sign says open."
Me: "You will have to ask about that at the Parking office"
Male staff member: "Who is it reserved for?"
    Me: "guests"
Male staff member: *continues to have an attitude* "Well...everyone who arrives at the university is a guest. I will tell the university that."

He rolls up his window & backs up. A couple of minutes later the phone inside the booth rings. It is someone from the Math dept. asking me if the garage is reserved. I tell the person the garage is reserved. A couple of minutes later the sucky staff member walks up to the booth window & apologizes for his sucky behavior.
