  • Rock, Meet Hard Place

I've been head-desking so hard these past couple of days that I'm not sure I even know my own name anymore.

So we are really suffering with getting product shipped to the customer on time, and we are in full blown panic OMG hurry hurry get it done NOW OMG why is that machine not running mode (well, the monkeys in suits and the shift leads and bosses and managers are)......

Then we get reminded of this:

"We are seeing a lot of damage lately. Be sure to take time to inspect your product and be sure there is no damage."

    And then, seconds later....

"We need to buckle down and get the product moving faster...all machines must be running at all times.....we need to have x many units done per shift in order to increase delivery time."

And we're all getting nailed for any damage that does occur that we miss, but at the same time, we're getting hovered over and hollered at for stopping the machine and troubleshooting and trying to fix or prevent or inspect and disposition the damage.

Whenever i was in a job that demanded BS like this, it never seemed to last long when I would ask a manager to do the same job as I did and meet the criteria they were looking for from me. In front of as many people as possible. My theory is that if what they are asking is realistic and even possible to consistently meet, then they should be able to do it too.
