  • YOUR FIRED! Just Kidding :)

So since today was so slow my boss decided it would be a good day to bust through some monitoring.

For those who don't know she picks calls the good ones, the ones that need work, and more to have us listen to and coach us or praise us. I get two good one could use work. Side note even impressed her that when breaking down my own call I used a word she would have used. Anyway so she gets to the call I need coaching on, nothing major just a bit of needing to cross my Is and dot my Ts.

Well right before we listen to the call she is making small talk and she asks, "Do you like your job?" I felt my heart grow faint and panic appearing as I thought about the fact that I was clearly about to either be severely yelled at or fired. I stammered through a very meek stuttering, "Yeah of course I love my job....why?"

Turned out she was just asking because I am awesome at it and I love my work and it shows. When I told her I thought she was about to fire me she started laughing and we made jokes about it but oh man she has got to realize she is my boss when she asks me questions like that.

I have to laugh because I would react the same way! One of my sups asked a couple of weeks ago if he could talk to me privately. I thought, "What did I do?" Turns out he wanted my opinion on his job performance. Heart attack averted.

Had the same thing happen, boss asked to speak to me after I finished work, I was shitting myself but it turns out he was offering me a part time contract, woohoo.
I am but a tiny, barren, insignificant rock caught in the glorious orbit of your shining sun. Gravekeeper.

I think anytime a boss askes to talk it is scary. I have freaked out and made a fool of myself before when called in to the bosses office....only to be offered a full time position. Hmmmm...why is it that we do what we do??

Indeed this is the longest I have been with one company due to having worked fast food, temp, or military (not like a regular job) before this. It's the first perm job in four years and I am used to getting no notice that I am out the door.

I get called into the bosslady's office all the time for closed-door sessions. My heart always does a bit of flip-flop when that happens because I'm worried that I did something wrong.

Of course, it's almost always because someone else did something wrong, or she needs me to do something confidential and doesn't want the rest of the office to know about it. And, rarely, it's just because she can talk to me about things and they won't go any further.
