Do any of you get a party at work for Christmas?

Every year our company gives each store a certain amount of money and the store is to use it towards a lunch or dinner for the associates. Some years we vote on what restaurant we want the food from or the manager picks it. We get the food two times during the day and an associate goes to the restaurant to pick it up. The times they pick up the food is usually 11am and 6pm. So if your lunch break is at 3pm you get cold food or most of it is gone.

This year for the first time we are going off site for our party. The entire store is going this Sunday (since we close early that day and all 45 associates and managers will be able to attend) to a pizza place.

All our motels got $75 for Thanksgiving AND Christmas parties combined. That's not too bad for us, since we're a small property, but that's really not a lot for most other properties.

We always throw our parties around 2:30pm so that all shifts can join in except night audit, and even if our night auditor could make it to the party he wouldn't want to (old GM tried tacking on a mandatory meeting to the Christmas party a few years back to increase attendance...Night Auditor sat out in his car during the party and only came in for the mandatory meeting part. He's a nice guy, but not very social. We always save him a plate of food though).

What are these Christmas parties of which you speak?

We haven't had one at the swamp in six years. They cost too much.

Apparently there is a "Holiday Celebration" each year for management at our site. It's generally lunch at some local restaurant the Friday before our two week shut down. I was surpised to be invited this year--guess I've moved far enough up the food chain. Rumor is that there is a bonus each year (even last year), which would be helpful in offsetting the loss of 2 weeks pay.

Our work doesn't do much for christmas, but the Manager has given us nice bonuses in the form of giftcards and for thanksgiving we'd all bring potluck to the Office.

We don't have a Christmas party, but every year the whole Thanksgiving weekend is catered. This year they had food deliveries 4 times each day. It was Fazoli's on Friday, subs on Saturday, and Merxican grill on Sunday (Qdoba, I think). "Eat as much as you want" they said, and I did.

We always have a holiday party at the library, usually it's held after-hours in the building, along with a white elephant gift-exchange. (which is always a lot of fun. ) The few times we've done something different, it's been an informal potluck during the day.....reasons for this vary, but it looks like that's what we'll be doing this year.

We have food. Everyone brings something. Then we get our "gifts". Last year it was a mug and fleece shirt with our company logo on it. I know this year we get shirts with our company logo. I am not sure what else.

Our "Christmas Party" is held a week or two after Christmas. That way the rush of customers is out of the way.

Yep, we do the same, so much easier for everyone. And in summer we have a BBQ.

We're having our holiday party on Friday. We have a big upgrade coming up, plus, our party planner is leaving us.

We do potluck, with the boss bringing in donuts or pizza. MMMMMMMMmmmmmm pizza. Then we do a white elephant type exchange. Then everyone plays games while I go back to the phones. I HATE playing games....

Our store-wide party is this Friday also. (Usually it's Christmas Eve.) People bring their favorite dish to pass and the food sits out all...day....long.

I never eat any of it. Food poisoning sucks.

We don't hold one, not really. The office staff holds a party up on the 3rd floor in the boardroom, but the warehouse staff is too busy during christmas to party away. Deliveries to make! We usually wander up there between noon and 2 pm - if we remember. Last christmas we didn't have anything. Mainly because our suppliers close for christmas, so we have to get double deliveries (or in last year's case, triple deliveries) the days before then.

Other than that, it's a catered affair (with the caterer employed by the company; Janet is a nice lady) - with food we supply them.

Party??? The bowling center I was at for nearly 4 years, we only had 1 in my first year. My current job... Well I have heard tales of them from the offices, but me and the other remote employees that do the field work - hell no. They wouldn't pay for us to fly there for that. I haven't heard of anything they are thinking about for this year yet... I would really rather not hear about it or the other fun stuff they do at the offices through the year....
