Corporate overbooked us
Our corporate reservation center cannot book groups. They screw it up every time.
We got a fax for a rooming list for a large group coming here in a couple days. First off, the group wants everything on one bill, and corporate made them three separate reservations (aka 3 bills). Our screwy computer system doesn't allow us to link these, which means we must write down what they are, cancel them out, and make a new, single group reservation.
But what's even worse, is that they booked 10 double smoking rooms. Our motel only has five. Corporate reservations only see half of our availability for booking, so as far as they're concerned we have two. Yet they promised this group 10 smoking rooms.
This means that (1) this group is gonna be very pissed off when we ask most of them to smoke outside and (2) when they ignore us and smoke inside, whoever has the room after them is going to be pissed when we can't get all of the smoke smell out (our carpet shampooer broke, and the corporate geniuses won't let us replace it until next year, so any smoke odors that get trapped in the carpet are there to stay).
Basically, some guy sitting in a corporate office somewhere overbooks us, and then we get to deal with the pissy customers. I'm so FURIOUS with them right now! This unfortunately isn't the first time they've done this to us, either!
My only consolation is that if the group's ETA is accurate at all, I won't be there at check-in. I've dealt with so much this past week, this is one more thing I don't want to deal with! Please, someone else deal with this one!
UPDATE: After some phonecalls and a lot of headaches, we got in touch with the person who made the initial reservation, and I *think* it's fixed now. Waiting on a new rooming list to be faxed to us so we can match it up with the reservation. Hopefully all is well now...
