Missed the show
So last night I was SUPPOSED to go to a couple improv shows at the local improv theatre. However, ACW (who I have ranted about here before) called in sick.
Now, perhaps she really was sick. I doubt it. She sounded chipper and happy and didn't sound sick until I asked if she was feeling better (at which point cue the moaning and hoarse whispering). But I'm putting this in Gen. Work Chat because there is the possibility she could have been legit.
I hadn't bought tickets to the shows yet, so no loss. Hubby and friends went on without me.
Now, Ryan Stiles (from Whose Line Is It Anyway?) founded this particular improv theatre (he lives in town; he frequents the pub nearby) and will sometimes make random appearances at the shows. I'm a fan of his and have always wanted to see him perform in person, but have never gotten the chance.
Guess who showed up for a surprise performance at the theatre last night?!?
Oh, I was pissed.
I'm irked at coworker, but I'll admit that perhaps she's legitimately sick and it's no one's fault. I'm more pissed off at the circumstances of everything.
Working both holidays
We're open 24/7, 365 days a year, so someone has to work on the holidays, most notably Thanksgiving and Christmas. Typically you can choose to have either Thanksgiving or Christmas off but not both (since that's not fair to whoever's covering you both days). You're almost guaranteed to get at least one of them off, though.
Well, somehow they don't have anyone else to fill a shift on Christmas but me. I already had worked Thanksgiving this year. So I'm working both holidays. At least it's a day shift, so I can still enjoy dinner with Hubby. But still, grrr!
