    Any way on to the WTF
    My hours at work have been cut drastically. I have a total of 5 hours all next week!
    I am a good employee, have never called out or been late in the 10 months I have been there. I do my job and dont whine too much.

    I know they are trying to get me to quit, but they will have to fire me!
    I have questioned the legality of some of the practices of my manager, such as using expired dough, making employees work over 8 hours without a break of any kind, and making employees work in extreme heat (almost 100 degrees) without the hood vent working, much less any air conditioning. I know this is a pizza place and its going to be hot, but when customers break a sweat walking in the door, somethings wrong!
    I have calmed down quite a bit since the first posting yesterday but I am still hurt and mad they would do this to me. I am wondering about the underemployment benefits, does anyone know if this situation would qualify?

    OMG! I would definitely recommend to check with unemployment or a labor board on the pratices your manager is doing at the pizza shop as well as your eligibility. Document as much as possible and if you can, take some pictures.

      I am in the same position. Why do employers hate reliable, hard working employees so much? (seemingly.)

      As far as I know, if youre working less than living means, you qualify for limited unemployment to buffer the fact youre being phased out. Phasing, in california at least, is legal. If they cut you to 1 hour a week here, its fine.

        Its the same here. I checked and the underemployment only seems to apply to those cut down from a full time position to a part time or less. I hope I misunderstood it but I dont think i did. The at will policy stinks.
        I have several witnesses for the heat, but I couldnt catch her using the expired dough, my word against hers.
        I am hoping and praying for another job, I have never been treated this badly by an employer!

          Just call the health department. They have their ways and they'll rake her over the coals. If she's using expired food there ARE ways to tell that you don't know.

            Just wanted to update here, the manager I was talking about was transferred to another store and that manager was sent here. Seems to know what he is doing and has been with the company for years so I think it will be better but I dont want to jinx anything!

                I'll never understand that, either.

                A few weeks ago, a newer girl got fired for calling in too many days in a row without a doctor's note, which yes, is possible because she's a temp and my boss doesn't tolerate new people with bad attendance, however, this girl never had a problem with attendance before and she always did EXTRA overtime above what's required of us and she held the record for fastest certification in what she was trained on and she was faster and more accurate than other operators who have been here since the day the factory opened.

                I'm not sure what they have against you or why they want you gone. They must just want no goodnicks who don't do any work and call in every day.

                  Its going well so far. He doesn't threaten us with being fired or say he wants to slap somebody. Everybody is much more relaxed . The ones who don't like to work are not happy though!
                  I feel so much better about work now ,thanks for asking Raps!
                  I think what the former manager had against me is I wont let things slide, like her telling me she wants to slap me. Last time she said it I begged her to do it!
                  I also called her out on using expired dough and shorting customers on toppings because she didn't order enough food.Among other things.
                  She is gone now and I hope it stays that way.
