As some of you know, I've been unemployed for a few months. As I was physically crippled for several of those months, I've only REALLY been looking for the past few weeks, now that the injury is on the mend.
So, last week, I have an interview on Monday with the ass. man of a . . . 'establishment', that required an admin/reception. Interview went well, she promised to get the boss to call. And I heard nothing. Fair enough, happens.
Get another interview at a local place on the Thursday. Naturally, the first place calls Thursday morning and wants me to come in to see the boss. I explain about the interview that day, but say that I should know by the afternoon.
2nd interview also goes well, as function manager. It's only 3 days a week, but good hours, and will allow me family time (the Demon Twins are at that difficult age.) The day passes without them contacting me. At 5pm, I email them, to get a reply of "oh, we went with the other person we interviewed first. Sorry."
I contact the boss of the "establishment", and she's happy for me to come and see her at 2pm on Friday. Very enthused about me, etc. So, Friday I get all dressed up again, drive 30 minutes and 20k's away -- for the boss to sit me down and say "oh, I gave the job to the mate of my husbands last night. But I can still give you 5 hours a weekend if you want. But a mature woman like you doesn't really need a job like this, do you?"
I was polite, but I went and vented to a mate at the pet supply store. Poor Nat loved the story but did agree it was unfair.
So, back to the grind. Wonder what the odds are of loosing 2 jobs in one day?
