  • I am Highly Disappointed

So this happened in Wal-Mart. I didn't see who did it but whoever it was is a rude bastard.

I was looking for light jackets because I really don't have any. I have sweaters but they're just not cutting it, for hikes in the mountains, and my winter coat is too hot. I found two perfect ones, a white and tan in 2X and a black in 3X. The sizes are important because this Wal-Mart's plus size selection is lacking, to say the least. The rest on the hangers were all 1X and a few lone 4X's.

I went to grab some canned goods while mom went to the changing room. The coats were in the shopping cart along with some halloween junk and also a set of 8 wine glasses. When I got back...

Me: Hey, I thought this was our cart but I wasn't sure because the coats are gone. Where are they?

Mom: What?!? *gets out of the change room* I left them right here! Someone took them?

    Me: ...What the hell.

Yeah, someone snarfled them right out of our cart while mom was in the changing room. Seriously, who does that? They must've done it because they were the only ones available in those sizes. Ugh, I was mad!

...So I ended up going to Addition-Elle and getting a jacket for six times the cost. On the plus side, it's WAY more stylish.

    That is just rude.

I wish I was surprised. I really wish I was.. but my faith in humanity isn't that high any more. But there could have been another answer...

Was the fitting room associate there at the time? If she wasn't, she may have assumed the buggy was dropped off by another associate (who probably got poached by management for another project while putting them away him/herself) and decided to help out. That happened a handful of times while I was working at an WM. Mind, this only happens when the fitting room associate isn't there and if they were, then another customer poached them!
If I make no sense, I apologize. I'm constantly interrupted by an actual toddler.

Reminds me of Lupo's post where somebody took her mangoes right out of her cart.

I dunno, that just seems odd. It seems more likely that the fitting room associate may have taken the jackets, assuming someone had left them behind. Which happens to me quite a lot at my local stores, and it's always irritating. And yes, that's even when other items are in the basket. I've also had other customers take the entire cart, assuming it was available, and I've also left the fitting room to find my cart buried in stuff, because associates thought it was meant for reshops. Grrr.

No one was there when I arrived. We actually thought about that and went back to where we got the jackets, which was only a very short walk away... you could actually see those racks from the fitting room. Nada. I don't think an associate would head off to parts unknown with them, would they?

Slightly off topic, but regarding people thinking your cart isn't actually yours: I went to the fitting rooms at Ross the other day and found they had gotten hang tags that said "cart in use" to put on your cart when you went into the fitting rooms. I thought that was a great thing!

I've had that happen to my cart too. My girls and I were at a store picking up some things. We were near the $1 section at the front picking out treats for them and I pushed my cart out of the way (with about five things already in it) to the side so it wouldn't block things, since the area was kind of tight. I turn around a moment later to find it completely missing, and an empty cart somewhat near it.

Luckily, after standing around for a bit in confusion and wondering if I could ask an associate for help because a few of the items were the last ones like them on the shelves and items I needed for something I was working on, I saw a lady walking down one of the main aisles from all the way at the other end of the clothing department. She looked fixated on the $1 section, and when she got closer I recognized the items I'd picked up in the cart. Somehow she'd managed to grab the wrong cart (one with items instead of empty) from the front area and walk all the way to the back of the store before finally realizing her formerly empty cart was no longer empty. At least she was apologetic about it.

I was in Target once with my youngest, who was IN the cart and I'd literally walked two steps away to look at a price tag, and some woman started rifling through my cart. I turned around in time to see her, and boy let's just say she got a RUDE telling off. I threatened to call the police and she ran off.
