    I've had cats who could shed into closed containers, and I'm quite sure they selectively shed whatever color provides maximum visibility on the human's clothes.

      I'm convinced that cat hair floats in the air and in another dimension... We put down a black cat one late winter. He was 15.5 years old, not doing well, and it was time. 6 months later, I found black cat hair in my eggs one morning. We currently had no cat. I'm not a complete slob, it's not like I did NO housework between losing the cat and making breakfast that morning. Where the HELL did the black hair lurk those 6 months? Dunno.

          My guess is that it's Cat Central. Sometimes, instead of sending a cat to someone who needs one, they send subtle (and not-so-subtle) reminder to former cat servants that they should find a new master.
          Any fool can piss on the floor. It takes a talented SC to shit on the ceiling.
