I always have a backpack when I'm walking, but it seems like a waste to use it to hold a light jacket when it's 95 degrees out, just because I'm going to a movie.
I carry a reusable shopping bag with my layers, when I think I might get cold. Especially a winter hat and gloves. My city is ridiculously changeable.
You guys have so corrupted me. When "reasons other than warmth" was mentioned, my mind went to "concealment for sexy time" not "ick barrier."
Me too, and I don't normally think that way either. My other thought was that it was to smuggle in snacks. Both the theater in my home town, and the IMAX in my current town are pretty new. Maybe five years old. Still, I'm sure plenty of plague carriers have contaminated the seats in that amount of time.
Replace anger management with stupidity management.

This is what I meant with my "other than warmth" comment.
To right the countless wrongs of our days... We shine this light of true redemption, that this place may become as paradise...Oh, what a wonderful world such would be...
Mr Hero, that's what cargo pants are for. Now that Hubby is in his wheelchair with a backpack attached to the back, that's what we use. They going to search a cripple? Of course if you can finagle a female friend with a big purse, or someone with a messenger bag to go, that works too.
"I try to be curious about everything, even things that don't interest me." -Alex Trebek
Eh, I'm not charismatic enough to have a female friend go to the movie with me.

I see 85/90% of my movies by myself (unless it's something my Dad might be interested in seeing, usually stuff with a historical bent). Why do people think it's "sad" to see movies by yourself? I go to the movies to WATCH MOVIES, not to socialize with friends.
There's a difference between going to the movies by yourself, and not having a friend to go to the movies with. The latter implies a desire to go with someone, the former does not.

“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged.
One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world.
The other, of course, involves orcs." -- John Rogers

I don't think it's sad to see movies alone (I do it often when I travel) but that he can't get anyone to when he wants to.
