  • I want to see your menu not your ads!

So I was at my closest fast food restaurant (I know I know) and I haven't been there in a while. Sometimes they have promotions and such. So I'm scanning the menu board for them, trying to decide what to order, and then zoom! The menu was replaced by a picture of a burger. Not what I want. And then the menu comes back on, and then again! A picture of fries. It was realllllllly annoying. When you're trying to read.
Whichever Corporate bigwig thought this was a good idea should be fired.

I finally did manage to order, though. It took me a while but I finally got there in a lot more time than it should've ...

This pisses me off too...my local Mickey D's finally got in one of those electronic menu boards, and far too often I'm trying to decide what to get, and the damn price will be replaced with an animation of fries, or cooking eggs, or some other advertising bullshit. Hey, I'm already HERE, so you don't need to keep shoving ads in my face!

Here in Desert Hell, Little Caesar's has electronic menus, and the majority of it is dedicated to "Look at our awesome pizzas!" but the actual menu portion of it doesn't change.

They do that at the concessions at the movie theater complex near me. Stupid and annoying.

The screens that show the number called in our cutting counter take-a-ticket system were replaced, and now show several pictures of crafts and sewing projects between showing the numbers. It can get really irritating. "We are now serving customer...customer...wait a moment...any second...Ah! 18!" I liked it so much better when it just showed the number and stayed on the number until we pressed the button to show the next number.

This constant 'in your face' saturation advertising is precisely why I don't listen to the radio or watch television any more. I've even stopped going to one particular gas station nearby because they have those video screens on the pump constantly displaying those obnoxious, relentless ads - which wouldn't be so bad, except they have the volume up pretty damned loud and there's no way to mute it.

Congratulations, Marathon. Your efforts have resulted in exactly the opposite effect you were going for. Not only will I not be buying candy bars, soda, or coffee at your stores, but now I won't be buying ANYTHING AT ALL from you.
