Background: Our buses accept cash or tickets as fare (there are also monthly passes and chip cards but that isn't really relevant). Money goes into a locked box the driver can't open. Signs are plastered all over the buses saying the driver will not (read: cannot) make change. Ok End Background.
So the other day I'm on the bus to the train station. We stop in an area that has LOTS of stores, restaurants and other businesses. There's a grocery store with a money services counter less than 2 blocks right down the street. The stop is right in front of a Greens of Wall.
Punk Kid gets on and tells the bus driver "alls I gots is large bills." He then gives the driver that EW Expectant Look (copywrite WishfulSpirit 2016
) as if she is just going to let him on.
NOPE. She very sweetly told him that he could go get change at the Greens of Wall and the next bus would be along in 20 minutes. He whined, she didn't care, he got kicked off the bus with the obligatory "Imma flip you off for not letting me get something for free that everyone else pays for."
Made my day.
