  • can't they put on jackets or something????

Sooo...at my work a group of 5 cops always come in the snarf down the breakfast. I don't mind, since 1. I don't make the breakfast 2. They keep the parking lot and area around safe and weirdo free. 3. The manager allows them. But can't they put on jackets??? its 30 degrees outside! But they strut in here weapons in sight, scaring the customers. I've had many complaints from nervous customers about them. Maybe I should say something to them??? I've already told the manager, he doesn't seem to pay attention. Anyway isn't it weird to be going around in the freezing cold with no jackets :\

Not if you've got enough antifreeze onboard!

Not really.. When you are in and out of the car all the time, a jacket tends to get in the way. When I delivered pizza, I never put one on until the temp got below 30 (F).

They are wearing a lot of gear under their uniforms, like bullet proof vests. These are very hot so they probably don't need a jacket. Also jackets/coats can interfere with them reaching for their weapons.

That said, why don't they eat inside? If I saw a bunch of police officers in front of a business I wouldn't stop there. I would err on the side of caution assuming they were there on official business and that the location was shut down until they were finished. I made the same assumption about the fire truck in front of my local grocery store, until I mentioned it to an employee. The employee explained that the firefighters were picking up groceries, but brought the truck with them incase they got a call. So it isn't always a correct assumption.

If it's really cold, but they're patrolling in the cars, I've often seen police officers in my area wearing commando sweaters, which are usually made of wool.

Obviously, that guy needs to straighten his up a bit, and he possibly needs the next size smaller, but I digress. Having worn one of those myself on winter Uniform Days when I was in the Air Force ROTC during high school, I can personally vouch for how warm they are. In fact, there's been some bitterly cold days since that have made me wish I'd kept mine.

After being back in PA for 6 years from living in Va Beach for 18, 50deg is sweatshirt at most weather. Vs shirt, hoodie and full coat before.

As for the rest...I don't feel like making an acct on fracking yet.

Besides wearing the vests, uniforms and such, they are probably wearing some sort of insulating undershirt if its cold enough to bother them. I can see why they wouldn't want to wear coats. Gloves would also probably be a bad move for someone who might need to handle a weapon at any minute.

Personally, I don't like to wear jackets or coats while driving. If I'm doing errands in the cold, I just leave my jacket in the car because its too much of a bother to put on and take off when I'm running in and out.

Sounds like it might be time for an anonymous tip to corporate. Allowing non-guests to eat the breakfast is a huge no-no for most hotels, and the fact that something is frightening your guests is another issue. Sign up for one of those self-destructing email addresses and send it that way.

Oh yeah I guess their vests are heavy...I never wore one so don't know personally... but it makes sense. It's armor.
When I delivered food, I always wore a jacket in 30F degree weather...if I didn't, I knew I'd be sneezing a storm when I got home, ugh. I do see some people out in shorts and shirts in this weather, but I thought it was because they're wishing for summer again. Maybe my immune system is just bad.

Well the manager says it's ok, and if she doesn't care then I suppose I shouldn't worry. Anyway I have a feeling they'd know it was me, since I'm the only one with a computer when they come in. LOL

I'd probably do my best to reassure guests that there's nothing to worry about. They're just cops getting a quick breakfast because they're human too.
