  • Do I have grounds to complain or nah?

So I finally got my baby back from the dealerships service center (it had been recalled due to some effete up airbags) and that would be fine if it weren't for my mishap with the loaner they gave me. Right before I had to return it, I scraped it up pretty badly on a railing, leaving 2 scratches and an inch long piece from the bumper hanging off. after intially panicking, I was ashamed of trying to lie and say that it was a hit and run and figured I had to man up (even tho I'm not a man :P) and take my punishment. I was hoping that they would go easy on me, since it was their faulty bags in the first place that started all this, and they took such a loooooong time with my car. Plus the car they gave me was already scratched.
But they weren't. After reviewing the damage, they decided that they would make a claim with my insurance to pay for fixing it. I was sad, since that probably meant that it would drive up up my fees even higher and my insurance was a bit pissed that I didn't claim it right away. (This happens once in a blue moon so I had forgotten). Anyway, it was the way they (the service center) handled it that irked me. First they sent out this old dude to check it, and then he came right back, threw the door open and shouted to the entire staff that there was damage. Everyone looked over, instant silence. I was mortified. Then he pulled out a bag of chips, stood a foot from me, and started chewing aggressively on it, staring right at me accusingly. It was creepy. Not to mention unprofessional. He did it for a long time and all I could hear was his lips smacking away. No one said anything, just stared. After a long time he finally beat it.
So should I complain about this dude? Or am I being sucky?

Speaking just of the employee there -- yeah, he was an ass. You told the place the truth. Get everything settled down first, though (get your car back, have it inspected by someone you trust), and put it in writing.

tbh the service guy was a ass and I would let his manager know. There's no way to give him a bad review because he's the parts guy if it was an service guy they usually send reviews out, the guy who works on my car at the dealer I take it in regularly for my oil to the Honda deal as it is a Honda knows my situation and has my car back to me in no time. If its going to be a wile I always have the van take me home. I had a bad time at the service center once and they made it right :-). My husbands car goes to ford is a ford and still under warranty and they made me wait 2 weeks for his clutch yah I guess who called corporate on them and also cost the guy over 2k in commission me and they had to pay for my rental since they couldn't work on my car and it sat there for 2 week because the part was on back order and the tech was on vacation. Its a miracle how my wait went for 3+ weeks to 2 weeks lol.

There is no justification to embarrass you in front of other like that.

I agree somewhat with Eric on waiting until everything is settled. Unfortunately, the insurance claim could take 3 - 4 weeks. That is too long to wait.

I would suggest that you call the manager. Before saying anything else, reinforce that you admitted to the damage, that you have offered to pay for it and that you still plan to pay for it. Then let him know about the behavior.

Personally, I would ask for an apology, made out loud, in front of the same group of people that he embarrasses you in front of.

Insurance is trying to weasel their way out of covering! Damn them. It looks like I'll have to pay out of pocket. Anyone know a ballpark?
It's been a rotten week, I was ill with the cold and the flu, and it's been disgustingly busy at work, and I couldn't call out because we ware short staffed. So I was sitting there, running a high fever, while adult brats ran around. And then this happens. I already felt like a moron for not paying attention and mr. Ass has to act all creepy. Just like icing on the proverbial cake T_T but even though he was an ass I won't complain, I don't want to be an sc that takes out their rotten week on others that have nothing to do with it, it's my worst nightmare come true

Depends on how bad the damage is. If the scratches are just on the clear coat, they can usually be polished out. If they're deeper, like down to the primer or bare metal, that's when the cost starts going up. They'll have to sand down the 'ridges', feather back the original paint, and then build up the surface again before polishing out the repairs. Even so, the repairs should only be a couple hundred bucks.

The bumper though, could be where they get you. Plastic bumpers, designed to flex, usually require special materials. Primers and paints designed to flex with them. Minor damage, like one of the mounts coming off, can usually be repaired--anything else usually requires replacing the item with a new one, and then painting it. Depending on the car, that can add up as well.
