In one of the towns near us there is a little parade of shops-The Fish Bar,Saltrock,Whites,The Foundry,The Museum etc.etc. each of which has its own parking spaces in front of it for its own specific customers and which has a nice clear little sign 'Parking for XYZ only. All others will be towed and charged a penalty.'

Which works perfectly well until you get to the designated space for one of those stores which now bears the wonderful message 'Parking for Whites only. All others will be towed and charged a penalty'

Oops Someone might be sent back to go and redo the wording of those signs methinks...

This sounds like a story I read on NAR recently. OP is a graphic designer; bar calls to have OP design a mascot for the bar. They want a cartoon dog holding a martini.

Funny so far, right?

But they also want the OP to do some word art with the dog's name ... which they've decided is "Ruffi."

Which, yes, is unnervingly close to "roofie."

Client says "It's a word that's associated with alcohol, and it's a noise that a dog makes! It's a pun! It'll be great!"

OP tries to talk them out of the name and gets blown off.

A year later, bar owner wants a refund because ... customers are finding the dog's name creepy and the bar is losing business.

Spoiler alert: owner didn't get the refund. He did, however, pay the OP to do some word art for the dog's new name (not given in the story).
