I went jogging around the neighborhood and spotted a guy putting up his Christmas lights. For a moment I thought it had to be more Halloween decorations, but no, he was wrapping his trees with strings of multicolored bulbs.

    On October 14th.

I guess the early decorations at all the retailers have finally succeeded in reprogramming some people's sense of the holidays.

sucks cause the old station used to play dance/techno it was a good station.
I would love to see a dance/techno radio station in St. Louis.. that would be awesome!

At our old house (aka my childhood home), my dad set up the Christmas lights one year and never took them down until we moved to another city.

As it is, I hate talking about Christmas because every time I think of how I can't afford anything for my family for gifts, I start to well up. I understand it isn't about the cost or how great it is, but even so....they are my family...and my friends....and I can barely afford to eat as is......

See, it's times like these that makes me happy that heavy metal Christmas songs never took off (unless you count Transiberian Orchestra to an extent).

We had a station here that was moving and seriously played "POP GOES THE WEASEL" for almost a month...

When Christmas music comes on I just switch my mental play list to Frohes Fest or A Very Scary Solstice

The lights I don't mind as much, since you can't get earworms from lights.

My husband's aunt loooooooves Christmas music and listens to no other radio station when they belt out the merry holidays songs! Yeah, I had to bring the Ipod when I travelled with them. thank goodness the battery held out.

101.1 just switched too, nothing but christmas music from a station that used to play "Everything you WANT".

Maybe he just wants to get it done before the weather is too cold/snowy? Probably much more pleasant to perform that act when you aren't freezing your nuts off. Unless he's already lighting them, too, in which case, yikes.

That was my thought too, in fact, I might just do that this weekend.

turns out they played it nonstop for a few weeks because they were switching the station to a new format/call sign etc.
had a radio station do that... not christmas music, but just the SAME hard rock song over and over cos they were switching from Country to Hard Rock and ... i guess they wanted to drive away all the country listeners...

but the christmas music thing... well i feel sorry for the people working at Lowe's. was in there the other day and the christmas displays were pretty, playing songs over and over... it didn't bother me, but i felt bad for the people who had to work there. (and wasn't surprised to see no one working in that section...)

im just not ready for christmas music myself yet. maybe some creepy halloween music ...

Speaking of which, does anyone here play flute and know how to properly attach a lyre?

Similar back in Columbia, MO - intro to a format change was "The Macarena" for a full two weeks.... over and over and over......

St. Louisians - how's good ol' KSHE these days?

Rockford - Both XRT and The Drive have very good streams - it's all I listen to up here. Every once in a while I'll record a day's worth of XRT to an MP3 and throw it on the Nano; it's almost like being back home.

Back ON topic: I'll whistle or hum Christmas tunes all year long, but having them crammed in my ears at every store gets really aggravating. Thank goodness I've never worked somewhere where it was on the overhead muzak. I really feel for those who do.

And I thought it was bad enough that WMAG (99.5 FM) would play Christmas music all weekend on Thanksgiving weekend.

                                Sheesh . . . talk about overkill.
