  • Cone = Blizzard and counting on fingers.(Long )

So I went to dairy queen with mom and dad on saturday. My hubby was sick(sore throat) so I thought I would get him something cold and yummy. I ordered a blizzard and a cone dipped in cherry. The total was 8.27 and I thought thats too much. But I figured maybe the menu board is wrong,so I got my reciept and boy was it ever wrong. It said 2.99 blizzard and 2.39 dipped cone,so 5.39. So I showed the girl when she brought out my blizzard. Had I known what was going to happen I would have just let it go.I showed the girl and she asked why I had ripped the receipt in half.I siad what thats what I got.She then gave the cat butt face and took it to show her coworkers.I'm not kidding the entire place shut down.No one was being waited on in drive in or walk up.
I looked through the little window and there were six people looking at my receipt and three of them were counting on their fingers. So keep in mind I already had my blizzard and then this conversation happened.

    Me-Why me
    Dad- poor sick dad
    Girl-Confused

    Girl-Ice water
Me-I didn't order any ice water.
Dad-Here take it back someone in drive in must have ordered it.That way you don't have to make it again.
Girl-You two need to calm down god (slams window)
me and dad-I didn't think we were yelling.

So I told dad to take the water to the car someone would drink it.Plus I didn't want my dad treated badly because hes so sick with heart problems.About that time the girl comes to the window again:

    Same players as before:
    Girl-Blizzard
    Me-I already have the blizzard
    Girl-slams window in my face

    A few mins later...
    Girl- Blizzard
    Me-I already have a
Thats all I got out she slammed the window in my face mid sentence

    A few mins later...
    Girl-Blizzard
    Me-I have the blizzard,it was a cherry
    Girl-Slams window

    A few mins later...
    Girl-Blizzard
    Me-It was a
Girl-Growls(yes growls) at me and slams window in my face.

I then see her in the back screaming and throwing her hands up in the air. I felt bad for her because she was the only one making my food. There were still six people looking at my receipt. Finally my cone comes and so does my big refund of 3.20. What got me was how they tried to accuse me of ripping off part of the reciept. This is why us cashiers and people that work with the public get such bad raps.Because of workers that DO autually treat the customers like crap.

It took 6 people to figure out your receipt? So they didn't have a calculator among the 6 of them?
Sometimes there's a good reason when a customer becomes sucky. It's when retal workers get as bad as the nasty customers that we talk about in here. Then you hear about it in the news & suddenly it makes ALL retail workers look bad.

I can understand the frustration on her part....if you had been lying and if you had truly ripped your receipt.

However, I have been on the receiving end of horrible service before for no warranted reason, and I definetly feel for you more than for her, as I feel I have gotten to know you on these boards and you don't seem like the type of person who would act in any way that would warrant that kind of treatment.

A couple of times, I pulled up to the McDonalds drive-thru on a Saturday (it's run a little differently on weekend afternoons versus weekdays, I'm afraid) and been told "Thanks for stopping at McDonalds, can I take your order?" and I've began my order and I have been completely cut off, actually screamed at "WAIT A SECOND!" even though I speak crisply, articulate properly, don't mumble or fastspeak.........what the fuck ever, bitch is what I almost said back, but I swallowed hard and was still polite. I mean, that girl literally took me aback by screaming that at me.

I have never been through a DQ drive thru, but then again, only one in town has one, and I'm not very big on DQ.....I'm a big Cold Stone addict (even though it's way more expensive, but I like the idea of a Subway of ice cream, then I can go eat outside with friends).

I guess under all this rambling, the point I was trying to make is that we ALL can reach a breaking point, in any kind of work. I just find it disgusting when employees take their anger and frustration out on customers who aren't being demanding, snippy, or acting entitled.

The repeated yelling of "Blizzard!" and the slamming of the window sounds like a really bad SNL sketch, by the way. Ehh!

Check to make sure that it's not a franchise. Corporate won't do squat if it's not corporate run. I know. I complained once when I stopped by to get a cone and they swore up and down that I'd ordered a large Pepsi. I finally gave up and took the drink and called the corporate number. They told me to take it up with the franchise owner. Franchise owner didn't do squat.

So I stay away from that location now.
          Random conversation:
Me: Okay..so I think I get why Zoro wears a bandana
          DDD: Cuz it's cool

So, by using the Doctor's reasoning, bow ties, fezzes and bandanas are cool.

I don't care how frustrated the girl was, she should have NEVER slammed that thing even once in your face. Totally uncalled for. And you had both parts of the ripped receipt right? They couldn't figure out that hey, the pieces of the puzzle match and wow we did mess up on her!

There was no manager? I'm sorry but she seemed like a moron.

              UPDATE!!!!!

              UPDATE:
I got a phone call this morning from the owner of the dairy queen. He was so sorry. He said that it was totally unacceptable the way me and dad was treated. He said that I wasn't the only person to complain about this "group".He said that they were going to be retrained and have a serious talking to. So he asked what he could do to make it up to me? I told him that I just would like a replacement blizzard since the one I took my husband home was completely melted(since they jacked around for 15 mins). He acted surprised that is all I wanted. He gave me two free blizzards and all my money back and two free blizzard coupons. I was shocked.I went up tonight to get my free blizzard(drool) and none of the kids that messed up my order was there working.

It's good you got compensated, and that something is being done about the shift (Though... how did they get your phone number?). You've probably done them a favor... better they get hauled up short now than continue to be dipwads and drive away business.

It sounds like whoever was supervisor/shift lead/team lead/whatever was being completely useless, because that sort of thing should have been stopped right away. Three bucks is not something to bring the whole store to a screaming halt for. I can understand a little why that one person who was actually working was flustered and upset, but she was taking it out on the wrong people.

Excellent! I'm glad the owner was on top of things and gave you the respect and compensation that you deserved.

I sincerely hope that a good retraining will fix the attitude and competence problems of this bunch. I still can't figure out how they screwed up your order so badly in the first place.
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.
