Mr Jedi and I ran to Wally World this afternoon to pick up a few things. As we were wandering the garden area, we heard this high-pitched mewing. Mr Jedi mentioned it sounded like a cat. So we peeked in the corner where they had their ferns displayed and sure enough there was a box with a tiny, frantic little kitty inside. My initial reaction:
I picked up the tiny fuzzball and tried to get it to drink some provided formula while hubster went to find an employee. A few minutes later he reappears and tells me that the employees already knew about the kitten. Apparently, someone had LEFT THE KITTEN and the employees found it in the potting display. Someone had found a box and donated a sweatshirt, some formula, and a shady spot and one of the employees was going to take it home.
Now, this kitten was WAY too young to be left on it's own. The poor thing didn't even have teeth yet and was barely able to crawl around the box. Mr Jedi got it to drink some of the formula and it quieted down after that. My cat allergy on a scale of 1-10 is around a billion, Mr Jedi really doesn't like cats, and we have a bird and a dog at home already. But I was ready to take that little one home right then and there to make sure it got the care it needed. Surely SOMEBODY we know would have been able to adopt it. It just breaks my heart that people can be so cruel to such helpless little creatures. Thank goodness a WalMart employee had room in their heart and home for a new furbaby. I hope the little thing makes it.
