A few of my friends have been waitresses and they have told me some pretty horrific stories about @$$hole customers. So I always try to be polite and courteous to my servers. After all the best advice for anyone is = NEVER fck with the people that handle your food!
After a long day at a popular theme park (sidenote: If you want zero lines and lack of crowds make sure to go during the middle of the week when most people are still in school and there is a chance of rain. It was the most fun!) my friends and I decided to stop at a popular chain (i think it is only common in the upper north east coast but I could be mistaken - that happens) before our 2 hour drive home.
I think they might have been short staffed that night or something;
- we waited 5-7 minutes before our waitress acknowledged us but we were not in a real big rush so it didnt really bother me that much
- when she brought out our drinks she stopped at another table first and talked to them.
- my friend ordered a Tuna Melt because it was part of a 9.99 deal (drink, entree, and sundae). She brought out a Turkey Melt with bacon (my friend can't eat bacon) but at least she withheld the tomato. Unfortunately, it was not one of the entrees listed in the 9.99 special. She was afraid to send her food back so she ate it anyway and just took off the bacon.
- the waitress never came to check on us once.
-i flagged her for a refill and she glared at me.
- when she brought out our refills she stopped at yet another table first and talked to them. Meanwhile I am dying of thirst.
- i ordered a mint chocolate chip ice cream sundae cause mint is my favorite flavor. . . i got a plain chocolate chip ice cream.
- my other friend found a kit kat piece at the bottom of his raspberry frozen yogurt. . . and he is allergic to chocolate!
- finally when it was time to pay we stood at the register for 10 minutes before someone greeted us. WE could have left without paying.
I thought about complaining to the manager or something. But again I think they were short staffed because the manager was busy with assisting other customers. I think our waitress might have been hard of hearing too.
But i decided since it was 9:30pm and we still had a 2 hour drive home it was best to just be on our way. I wanted to complain - not to get a free meal or anything - but just to let them know so that when the next customers come along (who might not be as nice and accommodating as us) will have a more enjoyable service.
