This happened a little bit ago but it still is a good story about how not being a sucky customer pays off.
I just got off work and was hungry so I decided to go to McDonald's to get supper. When I got there the drive through had a long line so I just thought I would eat there. I did not see the school bus. As soon as I open the door, there are about 30 students, coaches in line. They have three lines open and I was not in a huge hurry so I thought I would just wait, thinking that people would order and get there food.
Oh no... We had people on their cell phones not wanting to be bothered with ordering food, we had people who after standing in line did not know what they wanted (it is McDonald's, they have not changed their menu all that much) some people who did not have money so they had to borrow some from their friends.
Well one of the coach's got tired of waiting and said loud enough for the employees to hear, "This is taking way to long. McDonald's employees are so slow and do not know how to do their job."
Again, I just got of work dealing with SC all day and after standing in line for about 15 minutes, I was not in the mood.
Therefore, I turned to the coach and quietly told her, "If certain people would learn how to order then the line would move."
She did not say anything after that.
As soon as I got up to the front of the line I knew what I wanted so I ordered and told the lady behind the counter that I hoped she got off soon and smiled (like I know what you are going through kind of smile). She smiled back.
Right when I was about to pay (with a debit card) the manager comes over and tells the employee to not charge me. I am thinking why. The manager said it was because I had to wait so long. I told him "It was my choice to wait in line, and it is not your fault that the line moved so slowly, so I will pay for my meal."
The manager was like "No you are not paying."
I told him that was very nice and that he did not have to do that, but Thank you.
By that time, I was ready to leave and eat my food at home.
I guess standing in line and being patient is not common, but on the plus side, I got free food.
