  • I was a witness...

I normally write my experiences at the first resturaunt I worked at on the shore in "shore thing" threads, but this is about my second job. After I was essentialy pushed out of jenks I got a job through my girlfriend at a resturaunt more inland. it was a further drive, but mostly consisted of locals, which was far better than tourists, and they were busy if it was a rainy day or a clear day. which never happens on a shore job.

Anyway, I quickly realized that it wasn't the patrons I should worry about, but my co-workers. since I worked at Jenks they had me work the busiest days because they knew I could handle the worst of it and not bitch. I was fine with that, because that meant more money for me. the place was less open which made cleaning a challenge.

This particular day I was working in the front of the resturaunt which was dubbed "the yankee room" which had alot of yankee photos and signed pictures. the windows point right out into the parking lot towards the handicapped parking, which is when I witnessed my manager be a douche.

I was standing next to a server (the menagers daughter by the way) as we watched my manager/owner park his HUGE suv in the non-parking section next to the handicap spot... in other words, the extra space aloted to the handicap spots so people in wheelchairs and crutches can get in and out of their car. he used to park IN the handicap spot every day, but got in trouble by the police... so he now parks in their extra space. he proceeds to back up into the spot, with little care, and bumps HARD into a car parked in a normal spot on the other side. he dents the hood up on the other car (since the bottom of the SUV towers well over the normal cars bumper) gets out, looks at it, and then moves to the other side of the lot, comes in, and goes into his office.

me and the server just exchanged looks and she said "my dad just smacked into that car!" and 2 tables over we see two people get up and start freaking out at the hostess/floor manager... well... seems the people who parked there had a full view of what just happened. so what did my manager do when he came down? accused them of lying, being crazy, and such. I couldn't believe it! he makes tons of cash with this place and trys to get away with an accident he obviously commited.

one of the floor managers walks up to me and updates me about the "crazy people" saying he hit their car. I told her "no... he did hit their car, his own daughter saw it" she told me to sush up quick and go back into the yankee room. eventually cops showed up, he ended up paying for the damage, and I lost all respect for the owner of the resturaunt. I only worked there for a year and never came back the next summer since it was a "customer is always right" kind of place as oppose to jenks where they protected their workstaff as if they were their own offspring.

Good. I'm glad he got what he deserved!

If he kept denying it, would you have reported him? Just curious.

"The customer is always right??" Yeah, unless you crash into his car.

knowing me then... probably not. I was kind of spinless then. now though, yea, I would have reported him, and if he fired me I think that would be against a law or two for being a witness to a crime... I would obviously look for a different job though. I think my quailty of hours would have mde a decline.

Wow, I wonder if that same guys own a couple places here where I live. The most money hungry hypocrites. One of them is so paranoid that he constantly thinks his good waitresses are stealing from him but his bad ones who are...well they get away with it! dumb!
