At one point in my life I was desperate for a place to live. I was living with my ex for 4 months after we broke up (long story... but it comes down to "if I don't try now, I'll always wonder if I didn't try enough"). that didn't work out, so I needed a place to go. one apartment complex was cheap "enough" and in a great area. so I went there straight away.
the online reviews were terrible, but my tour and friends who stayed there said it was fine. so I live there for one year. it was great, AC, nice view, great gaurds, and a grocery store right below my apartment complex. good deal. but now it was too expensive for me, so I had to leave... this is where all the reviews came crashing down on me.
I clean the place up, minus vaccuuming because I accidently packed it up already, and left my paperwork as stated to do. 2 weeks go by and I get a notice that I get none of my security AND they are charging me over 550 bucks for backed up bills and rent... wait... that can't be right. I checked my bank statements, checked everything, and it was all in order. the paper didn't state why they took my security or why they didn't just use that to pay what they claim I owed.... so I call them.
After 2 weeks of back and forth they finally see it was a big mistake, refund me my security and take off the charges! yay! I won. the reviews said to never give up on them, and one thing they were terrible at was keeping up with paper work. whatever! I got out...
7 months later my mother gets a letter from collections... saying I owe them 750 bucks.. WHAT!? that isn't even the same number! what the hell is this!? I call them up and I get no answer, so i leave a very firm, but polite, message.... one week goes by and no reply. so i call again. they look it up and say "oops, seems we put it in manually, so it doesn't show up on the computers
so it went right to collections".... what?... you're telling me that anytime you fix something "manually" it's not put on file?.... I can't be the only one who had this problem then. so they "fix it"...
2 weeks go by.... my mom gets a letter from collections and they just took money out of her debit card (because she paid 250 of it for some reason) because she didn't pay in full yet. now I'm pissed. I call again and they say that we are off collections but they may have gotten the notice late. they call the collections and find out... NO ONE CALLED THEM! they took us off on their file, but failed to tell collections to refund the money and stop... oh I dunno... collecting!
but yea, it's finally over... I hope, and I will never EVER be going back there again.
